BISMARCK, ND – With their first collegiate team win now in hand, the University of Mary swimming team next would like to have their first winning streak, but a tough University of Sioux Falls squad stands in the way. The Marauders host the Cougars on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 11 am in the BSC Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The Marauders edged the Augustana Vikings on Sunday 138-124 for the first-year program's first-ever win. Both Augie and Sioux Falls are also in their first year of swimming.
The Cougars have posted two straight wins, defeating Quince (IL) 163-73 and Northern State 109-95.
This is the third straight home meet for the Marauders, all in the span of the last two weeks. Mary only has one remaining home meet, January 21, against Northern State.
Three Marauders posted multiple wins in the Augie meet. Freshman
Elizabeth Moriarty paced Mary with three wins, claiming the 100 yard butterfly (59.97), the 100 yard freestyle (55.61) and the 50 yard butterfly (27.16).
Fellow freshmen
Kate Murphy and Megan Mohktary both registered two wins. Murphy captured the the 200 yard freestyle (1:58.56) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:20.57). Mokhtary won the 50 yard breaststroke (28.97) and 100 yard breaststroke (1:10.71).
Several Marauders currently have times in the Northern Sun Top 10. Leading the way is
Alyssa Boese with three top ten marks. The freshman from Billings, MT, is sixth among NSIC swimmers in the 400 yard individual medley (4:51.27), eighth in the 200 yard individual medley (2:17.35) and 10
th in the 200 yard butterfly (2:18.95).
Murphy ranks seventh in the NSIC in the 200 freestyle (1:58.56) and fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:20.52).
Moriarty She ranks 7th in the NSIC in the 100 butterfly (59.97) and 5th in the 200 butterfly (2:15.31).
Brittany Davis is 6
th in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:33.46) and 10
th in the100 yard breaststroke (1:10.69).
