Last Week: U-Mary faced the daunting task of taking on #12 Winona State to open up play during the previous weekend, and it was a task the Marauders were prepared for as they remainined close behind the Warriors after the first quarter at 16-14. Winona State improved their cushion to 21-15 at the start of the second but U-Mary fired off an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to grab onto a 26-21 lead. The Warriors weren't out of it and tied the score at 26-26, but the Marauders persisted for the 34-32 lead at halftime. The second half turned into a shootout of sorts as the Warriors rode a 15-3 run in the middle of the third to seize the lead at 47-41 with three minutes remaining in the period, but the Marauders regained the lead before the final frame at 55-52 with a brief 14-5 run of their own. Winona State retook the lead early in the fourth by the 8:36 mark, but U-Mary wouldn't let off the gas as they fired off a 15-2 run for a 72-60 lead with less than five minutes remaining. Winona State had to play catch-up the rest of the way but couldn't overcome the difference as the Marauders eventually won out at 83-80 for their first win over a ranked opponent in three years. The second night turned out much easier as U-Mary built up a 14-point lead early in the first and never surrendered the lead en route to the 63-50 win over Upper Iowa as the Peacocks never closed within eight points of the Marauders throughout the contest. Brittney Dietz averaged 24.5 points over the weekend en route to her second NSIC Player of the Week award on 26 and 23 points; Hannah Larson added 19.0 points behind 20 and 18, and Dani Williams was third at 15.0 points with 17 and 13 in the contests.

Next Week: U-Mary will remain on the road next week as they pay a visit to Sioux Falls, S.D., and Wayne, Neb., to take on Augustana University on Saturday, January 30, and Wayne State College on Sunday, January 31.

History: U-Mary dropped their only contest against both the Wildcats and Vikings as they hold a 3-10 record all-time against Augustana with seven straight losses, and a 4-12 record against Wayne State with two straight losses.
