This Week: The University of Mary Volleyball team will start the season with a road trip to Warrensburg, Mo., to compete in the Peggy Martin Challenge hosted by the University of Central Missouri. The Marauders will take on Truman State University and the University of Illinois Springfield on September 4, and will compete against host Central Missouri and Western State Colorado University on September 5.

The Records: The Marauders finished with a 4-25 overall record in 2014, including a 1-19 mark in conference play, finishing 16th in conference. Truman State finished with a 29-4 overall record, 17-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and made it as far as the 2014 NCAA Midwest Regional before losing to Rockhurst University. Illinois Springfield finished the year with a 10-18 overall record, 2-16 in the GLVC. Central Missouri finished with a 22-9 overall record, 19-3 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and reached the Central Regional tournament after winning their conference tournament but fell to Wayne State College. Western State finished 2-20 overall last year with a 2-16 record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

History: U-Mary has not faced Illinois Springfield or Central Missouri at the Division-II level, but they have played one game apeice against Truman State and Western State within the past seven years. The Marauders lost to the Bulldogs in 2008 and defeated the Mountaineers in 2011, both at neutral site tournaments.

Last Year: The Marauders had a rocky start to the 2014 season, shaking off the rust but only taking one of four matches in the MSU-Billings Tournament. They followed that up with a three-set loss to the University of Jamestown in their home opener and started to find a groove by taking two matches in the Eckerd College Classic. Unfortunately, U-Mary had to face several top teams in the nation during conference play and loss their first 12 conference matchups before finally breaking the streak with a four-set win over St. Cloud State University on October 18. That ended up being the Marauders' only win in conference as they lost the remaining matches of the season.
