This Week: The University of Mary Volleyball team will open up their conference schedule when they host Northern State University on Thursday, September 17, before heading out on the road for a match against Minnesota State University Moorhead on Saturday, September 19, followed by a match on the road against Minot State University on Tuesday, September 22.

The Records: The Marauders proved their resiliency over the past week when they took four of five matches to improve to 5-4, their first record over .500 since the 2010 season. Northern State sits at a perfect 8-0 on the year with the high point coming against #8 Grand Valley State University where the Wolves won in straight sets.  MSU Moorhead is comfortably at 7-1 as they, too, defeated Grand Valley State but took five sets to accomplish the feat. Minot State owns a 3-4 record on the year so far with wins against the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Saint Joseph's College, and South Dakota School of Mines.

History: U-Mary has won once in 16 matches against the Wolves, with the lone win coming in 2007 in Bismarck. Since then, the Wolves have won 12 straight matches with only one match going to five sets in 2011. The Marauders have yet to secure a win against MSU Moorhead as the Dragons have won 13 straight with only four matches going beyond the third set. Finally, U-Mary has experienced some success against Minot State as the Beavers currently hold the advantage at 7-5 in 12 matches. U-Mary won the first match against the Beavers in 2014 in five sets at the Montana State University Billings Tournament, but the Beavers took both matches in conference for the 2-1 advantage on the year.

Last Week: The Marauders defeated Dickinson State University for the home opener, their first home win since October 6, 2012, and carried that momentum into the Runza Classic in Kearney, Neb., where they lost in four sets to the University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers and followed that up with three straight wins, first a five-set win over Northwestern Oklahoma State University, followed by a five-set comeback over the University of Illinois-Springfield, and finally a four set win over Chadron State College.
