One week after the University of Mary celebrated its own homecoming, the Marauders will now take part in the Bemidji State University's homecoming contest. The Marauders visit the Beavers to open Northern Sun North Division competition on Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium.

The Marauders dropped their homecoming game 24-10 to Wayne State College... The Beavers earned their first win of the season 47-7 at Concordia - St. Paul. Â

MARAUDERS REWIND GAME #4 (Homecoming) U-Mary 10 Wayne State 24
Adam Woroniecki ran for a career-high 103 yards but the University of Mary was unable to maintain any offensive momentum in a 24-10 homecoming loss to visiting Wayne State College. Despite a solid performance by Woroniecki, it was the power running attack of the Wildcats that proved the difference. Wayne State (3-1 overall/Northern Sun) held the ball for over 10 minutes longer than U-Mary (0-4) by boasting 273 yards on the ground on 52 carries. Ryan Ludlow was the Wildcats' workhorse, gaining 165 yards on 29 carries. WSC added 143 yards passing for a 416-281 edge in total offense. The Wildcats also had a 22-13 advantage in first downs. WSC scored on the opening drive of the game for a 7-0 lead. Twice U-Mary drove inside the red zone but managed just aÂ
Cody Goetz 25 yard field goal three plays into the second quarter. The Wildcats followed with a 10-play 59 yard scoring drive and led 14-3 at half. A Lane Yates 1 yd TD run less than six minutes into the second half expanded the Wildcats lead to 21-3. Offensively the Marauders were stuck on their own side of the field much of the second half before
Caleb Buck found the end zone from 1 yd out with 81 seconds left in the game.
Brennan Doan caught 10 passes for 52 yards.
Austin Bolton led the Marauders defense with 12 tackles, including two for loss.
Preston Tescher had 11 stops and
Danielle Whitaker 10.
Landon Smith picked up eight tackles, including U-Mary's lone sack.
HEAD COACHES
Josh Kotelnicki is in his second season as the head coach of the University of Mary. He is just the fifth varsity head coach in school history as the team begins its 28th season. Kotelnicki directed the Marauders to a 5-6 record in his first season in 2014 and is 5-10 lifetime (2 years). Kotelnicki joined U-Mary after serving as the associate head coach at NCAA FCS University of North Dakota for two seasons (2012-13) and as UND's defensive coordinator in 2013. A native of Litchfield, Minn., Kotelnicki won an NCAA Division II title as a player at North Dakota and has been on winning teams as a coach at the NCAA FBS, FCS, and Division II levels. After starting his coaching career at UND, he has also worked at Murray State, Truman State, and NCAA FBS Kansas State before returning to UND... Bemidji State's Jeff Tesch is in his 20th season as head football coach of the Beavers and has a career record of 120-90 (.571) overall and 95-73 (.565) in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Inheriting a struggling program, Tesch turned Bemidji State into a consistant winner that included ten straight winning seasons (1998-2007). The 15th BSU head football coach, his 120 wins is more wins that was compiled in school history before his arrival. He was named the NSIC Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2006. A 1978 graduate of MSU Moorhead, Tesch was an assistant coach at Montana State (1982), Central Missouri (1983-84) and North Dakota (1985-95) before starting at BSU in 1996.
THE MARAUDERS-BEAVERS SERIES HISTORY: Close games are one of the hallmarks in a series Bemidji State leads 5-4. Four games were decided by six or fewer points... 2006: Playing an NCAA D2 schedule for the first time, U-Mary defeated eventual Northern Sun champion Bemidji State 27-21 to ruin the Beavers homecoming. The Marauders grabbed a 21-7 lead on Blair Sandy TD passes to Matt Wall and Stacy Martin and an 85-yard Shawn Melland fumble recovery. BSU would rally to take a lead but Justin Fleck scored the winning points on a 4-yd run with 41 seconds left in the game. U-Mary managed just 167 yards of offense. Jesse Laber had three tackles for loss... 2007: Roman Penirian caught a 25-yd TD pass from Sandy in the 2nd quarter and Rett Thibodeaux booted a 26-yd field goal in the 3rd in a 10-0 Marauders home win. Brandon Lewis and Laber both had two sacks as U-Mary limited BSU to 242 yards of offense... 2008: Erik Kruse caught nine passes for 125 yards and Penerian had seven for 112 but BSU's George Kadlec caught two scoring passes, including one covering 85 yards, and totaled three catches for 156 yards in a 31-10 Beavers win... 2009: U-Mary threw three interceptions and couldn't overcome a 21 point deficit at home. Jamal Lomax scored the Marauders lone TD and ran for 71 yards. Dustin Kroeplin ran for 105 yards and a TD for BSU in its 21-7 win... 2010: With 2:08 left in the game and pinned at its 2-yard line, BSU drove 89 yards and kicked a 26-yd field goal with 21 second remaining in a 23-22 Beavers win. A defensive battle, BSU outgained the Marauders 289-262. Lomax carried 29 times for 88 yards. Kroeplin led BSU with 72 yards rushing and one score... 2011: U-Mary defeated a nationally-ranked NCAA school for the first time in a 49-21 rout of #20 BSU. Tyler Steffan caught eight passes for 202 yards and three TDs. His first score came on a double pass from fellow wideout Curtis Darrah. Josh Murray and Even Gross both ran for two TDs and Murray added 117 yards on the ground. Craig Bagnell was 18-of-26 for 315 yards and two scores. Defensively the Marauders forced three turnovers.. 2012: Bemidji State ran off 29 straight points and U-Mary turned the ball over on downs at the Beavers two yard line plus threw three red zone interceptions in the Marauders 29-21 home loss.
Elby Pope caught 10 passes for 123 yards and
Zach Roberson threw for 307 yards and two scores with four interceptions. Dustin Kroeplin ran for 111 yards and a TD. Lance Rongstad completed 16-of-24 passes for 261 yards and a TD and ran for 48 yards and a score... 2013: SR QB Craig Bagnell became U-Mary's career passing yardage leader in a 26-17 win at Bemidji State. Dariouse Gravely sealed win with 2 yd TD run with 3:31 remaining. Bagnell was 21-of-30 for 311 yards and finished the game with a U-Mary career passing yardage record of 7,962 yards. Joliffe caught seven passes for a career-high 137 yards and his NSIC-leading 9th TD. UM had 404 yards of offense to 286 for BSU.
Grant Singer had 14 tackles (2.0 for loss),
Troy Guptill posted nine (1.5 sacks, 3.0 TFL) and John Oyloe added 1.5 sacks of U-Mary's seven sacks. Avery Walker led BSU with 122 yards rushing with 1 TD... 2014 Big plays by Bemidji State University and a U-Mary special teams miscue allowed the Beavers to shade the Marauders 21-20. Elby Pope's second touchdown catch of the game, 37 yards from
Ben Jolliffe with 10:34 remaining. The Marauders extra point failed and BSU took advantage, winning on a Chris Lunde TD reception of 8 yards at 9:16 of the 4th. The Marauders generated 281 yards of offense (114 run, 167 pass) to 383 for BSU (297 pass). Pope caught 6 passes for 73 yards and 2 TDs.
Nick Jolliffe added five grabs for 37 yards and a score.
Vince Ferrante ran for 67 yards.

QUICK LOOK AT BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY BEAVERS
After struggling to an 0-3 start, Bemidji State University may have found its footing last week with a 47-7 win at Concordia-St. Paul. The Beavers rang up 517 yards while the defense gave up just 109 yards of offense, five first downs, and forced the Golden Bears into 3-and-outs in 8-of-12 possesions. The BSU offense returns 10-of-11 starters from a year ago. JR WR Juwaan Richard leads the offense with 23 catches for 226 yards. SO RB Tahi Nomane ran for 116 yards against CSP and has a team-leading 292 yards overall. Jordan Hein is completing 90-of-142 passes for 951 yards, 8 TDs and 3 INTs. He also has run for three scores. SR LB Colton Blascky, a 2nd team All-NSIC North player last season, headlines the BSU defense, with a team-high 4.5 tackles/loss and 2.0 sacks, among his 35 tackles. He also has brocken up two passes. Freshman cornerback Kaleb Olszewski has 31 stops, including a team-high 20 solo stops. Unlike a veteran offense, the defense returned just three of 11 starters.
HOMECOMING REVENGE
Last season the Beavers spoiled the Marauders homecoming in Bismarck, 21-20. This year the Marauders hope to return the favor during the Beavers homecoming game on Saturday.
HOME FIELD DISADVANTAGE
The home team has lost three straight games in the Marauders-Beavers series, with two of the home losses for U-Mary in Bismarck. Overall the visiting team has won five of the nine meetings... U-Mary is 2-2 at Bemidji, winning in 2006 and 2013, the first and last time the Marauders have visited the Beavers.

SCHEDULING HEADACHE
The combined record of the four teams U-Mary has faced this season is 14-2. #1 Minnesota State and #7 Sioux Falls are both 4-0. Upper Iowa and Wayne State College are both 3-1. Both losses for the Peacocks and Wildcats were to #25 Minnesota Duluth.
CAREER DAY / DRILLING DOWN BELOW THE NUMBERS
Adam Woroniecki keeps posting career numbers. One week after setting a career-high by running for 71 yards against #1 Minnesota State, the senior running back clipped the century mark for the first time during U-Mary's homecoming. A team captain, the native of Hebron, N.D., ran for 103 yards on 14 carries against Wayne State. He also had a career-long 67 yard dash in the opening half. Woroniecki has rushed for 250 yards this season and averages 4.6 yards/carry. He also averages 20 yards/kickoff return... Next fall Woroniecki begins dental school at the University of Iowa. He was accepted for this fall but chose to defer admission for a year to play his senior season of football.
RACE DAY
This season the Marauders have had two of the three longest runs since beginning NCAA play in 2006. Justin Fleck's 81 yard jaunt against St. Cloud State in 2006 is the longest effort, followed by
Coleman Olivas' 73 yard run against Upper Iowa in week two and
Adam Woroniecki's 67 yard dash against Wayne State in week three.

Brennan Doan caught a career-high 10 passsed for 52 yards against Wayne State College. The Bismarck, N.D., native become the 16th Marauders player to post double digit catches in a game during the school's NCAA era. With 27 catches for 189 yards in four games this season, Doan ranks second in the NSIC and 27th in the NCAA in receptions per game at 6.8.

Jacob Parker is 80th nationally in passes defensed. The sophomore cornerback has five knockdowns this season. Against the Mavericks he broke up three passes and recovered a fumble.
DISCIPLINE
Continuing a trend from last season, the Marauders are one of the least penalized teams in the nation. Through four games, U-Mary has been flagged just 18 times for 125 yards. The Marauders are seventh in fewest total penalties and seventh in fewest penalty yards in the NCAA.

Austin Bolton led the Marauders with a season-high 12 tackles and career-high 2.0 tackles for loss vs. Wayne State. The tackle total was a season-high and 2nd best total of his career (14 last year vs. UMD).

David Johnson booted three punts over 50 yards against Wayne State. His efforts of 71 and 65 yards both are in the all-time top 10 of U-Mary's NCAA era. On four attempts Johnson averaged 53 yards on four attempts.

Seth Walton is second on the team this season with 28 tackles and third with 3.0 tackles for loss. Walton also has an interception and forced and recovered a fumble.

Preston Tescher led the Marauders in solo tackles last year and is off and running again this season. After four games the Bismarck, N.D., native leads U-Mary in total tackles (33) and in solo stops (23). He is 12th in the NSIC in tackles.
