Last Week: U-Mary stumbled a bit out of the gate to begin the 2015 calendar year. They first traveled to Minnesota Crookston last friday and the contest was highlighted by Brittney Dietz fouling out with 2:20 remaining in the game. The Marauders held an early lead in the first half but fell behind right before halftime and never recovered. The Golden Eagels eventually won 71-54. The Marauders then traveled to Bemidji to take on the Beavers and it turned into a tough game for U-Mary. The first half was punctuated by both teams pulling off a big run, U-Mary fired off a 19-4 run and Bemidji responded with a 10-3 run to close out the half. The Marauders held a 27-25 lead at halftime and built on it to begin the second half. U-Mary held a 38-29 lead with 16:26 on the clock but the Beavers scored 11 unanswered points to jump ahead 40-38. The game turned into another back-and-forth affair as there were eight ties and eight lead changes in the final 14 minutes of the game. U-Mary had the lead as late as 00:59 but couldn't get over the hump. With a 70-66 advantage, the Marauders were sitting pretty but the Beavers pulled the rabbit out of the hat with six straight points to surge ahead 72-70. The Marauders had a chance to at least tie but the ensuing layup rattled off the rim and the Beavers took the game 72-70.

History: U-Mary fell to 7-8 all-time against MSU-Moorhead after a 87-75 defeat at the hands of the Dragons back on December 6. The Marauders also suffered a 80-53 defeat against #6 Northern State on December 5, dropping their all-time record to 8-9 against the Wolves. The difference between the previous meetings is that this game will be played in Bismarck and the Marauders hold a 5-1 record at home, while the Dragons and Wolves hold a 2-3 and 2-1 road record, respectively.

Next week: The Marauders will head back out on the road for games against Upper Iowa and Winona State. U-Mary will travel to Winona, Minn., to take on the Warriors on Friday, January 16, before heading to Fayette, Iowa, on Saturday, January 17, to take on the Peacocks.
