Marauders Host #21 Jennies Tonight to Begin Three Game Run in Five Days

U-Mary also Hosts Crimson Storm on Saturday, Beavers on Monday

THIS WEEK: Starting tonight, the University of Mary women's soccer team plays three games in five days, all at home. The Marauders open this run by hosting the 21st ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies on Thursday, Sept. 11. Game time is 6 p.m. at the MDU Resources Community Bowl. After a day off, U-Mary then takes on the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene University on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Marauders-Crimson Storm contest will be played at the Shiloh Christian athletic complex in Bismarck, N.D. The 3-in-5 run concludes with the Marauders Northern Sun opener when in-state rival Minot State University arrives at the MDU Resources Bowl on Monday, Sept. 15. The Marauders-Beavers bash begins at 7 p.m.  

THE RECORD: The Marauders are 0-1 this season.

LAST WEEK: The Marauders opened the regular season last Saturday with a 2-1 home loss to MSU Billings. After a scoreless first half, the Yellowjackets struck first before Andrea Muller tied the game in the 65th minute. MSUB ruined U-Mary's opener with a goal in the 81st minute for the win.

OPPOSITION
Ranked 21st in the nation, Central Missouri is 2-0 this season after consecutive 2-0 home wins over Northern Sun teams Augustana and #8 Minnesota Duluth. Freshman goalkeeper Ana Dilkes and sophomore defender Emily Eldridge were named MIAA Players of the Week for their efforts in the pair of wins. Hannah Pyle leads the team in scoring with five points (1 goals, 3 assists). Mikala Modiri has a goal and an assist. Head coach Lewis Theobald has a record of 111-22-15 in his eighth season with the Jennies and is a 6-time MIAA Coach of the Year... The Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm are off to a 2-0 start following a 2-0 win over Rogers State and a 3-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian. The Crimson Storm are picked to finish fourth in the Great American Conference (GAC), the same position they finished last season after posting a 9-9 mark overall and a 5-5 record in league play. All-conference player Bekah Stewart is back after scoring five goals and adding two assists. She already has three assists this season. Goal keeper Natasha Fuentes has two shutout wins this season with four total saves.... Fellow Northern Sun member Minot State University is 0-0-1 after earning a 1-1 tie at Southwest Oklahoma State. The Beavers are coming off a 7-8-3 season and 8th place in the NSIC (7-6-2). JR F Emilie Rebelo is the top returning scorer from last season, contributing 10 points on four goals and two assists. SR F Taylor Bachman-Williams, sister of former U-Mary all-conference player Alex Bachman-Williams, scored the Beavers lone goal in the opener.        

RECORDS: The Marauders are 0-3 against Central Missouri, including a 2-1 loss in the 2007 NCAA Central Region tournament. In their last meeting, the Jennies claimed a 5-2 home win on 9.12.13.. The Marauders have never faced the Crimson Storm... U-Mary is 2-1-2 against Minot State since the Beavers started their program in 2010. The two teams tied 0-0 in the 2014 season opener the last time they faced each other.

ROUND AND ROUND: The Marauders, Beavers, Crimson Storm and Jennies will all play each other once in the next few days as Central Missouri and Southern Nazarene visit both Minot and Bismarck.

HOME COOKING: The Marauders open the 2014 regular season with eight straight home games. The first three matches are non-conference contests before a run of five straight Northern Sun games. The Marauders don't travel until visiting Upper Iowa and Winona State on Oct. 3-4. The team then immediately returns for two more home games.  

CITY TOUR: The Marauders will play at three different home fields this season. While the bulk of games are at the MDU Resources Community Bowl, U-Mary will also play at Shiloh Christian and Reichert Field. The Marauders host Southern Nazarene at Shiloh Christian, a turf field, on Sept. 13. U-Mary then hosts Sioux Falls at Reichert Field, which is a grass surface, on Sept. 27.

11: Andrea Muller scored her 11th career goal in the season opener against MSU Billings. The Marauders senior forward is the lone U-Mary player with more than three career goals.

NEW: Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Ekstedt was one of three new faces in the Marauders starting lineup in the season opener. In her first college game Ekstedt made five saves. Also seeing action for the first time in the Orange and Blue was FR D Kate Berg and SR F Loren Sellers, who picked up an assists. FR F Alyssa Dollinger made her debut off the bench.
