BISMARCK, N.D. –
Brittney Dietz flashed midseason form for the University of Mary, scoring 28 points for the Marauders in their second and final exhibition game of the season. Early season turnovers, however, plagued the Marauders in an 84-78 home loss to Concordia College.
U-Mary's top returning scorer, Dietz hit 9-of-12 shots from the field and made all nine of her free throw attempts on the way to a game-high 28 points. The junior forward also had five steals, four assists and four rebounds.
The Marauders built an 8-point lead in the first half before entering the half up 39-37.
The Cobbers grabbed control early in the second half behind three-pointers and Marauders turnovers. A 17-4 run for Concordia in the first five minutes featured three treys and six U-Mary turnovers as the Cobbers took a 54-43 lead.
Dietz personally took control of the game during one stretch, scoring 16 of U-Mary's 20 points to pull the Marauders within 66-65 with 8:55 remaining. Emma Peterson responded with a three pointer for the Cobbers and Concordia stayed in front the rest of the night.
Kaitlyn Haag posted 14 points in the paint for the Marauders, making four of six field goal attempts and all six of her free throws.
Sloan Turner, U-Mary's other post player, came off the bench and contributed 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds. She was 5-of-6 from the floor and made her only free throw. The senior also blocked three shots.

Hannah Larson added nine points and seven boards.
Erin Januschka and Alley Fisher both posted 19 points for Concordia. Januschka also had nine rebounds. Peterson chipped in 10 points.
The Marauders committed 31 turnovers, leading to 42 Cobber points. U-Mary scored just nine points on turnovers. The Marauders did shoot 53.2 per cent from the floor but hit just 4-of-15 trey attempts. The home squad also made 24-of-29 free throws.
The Cobbers shot just 25-of-67 from the floor, but went 9-of-24 behind the arc. Concordia committed just 12 turnovers and was 25-of-39 at the line.
Next up for the Marauders is the regular season opener in California at the Tip Off Classic. U-Mary opens at California State University-San Bernardino on Friday, Nov. 14, before taking on the University of California, San Diego, on Nov. 8.
