Wildcats Take a Bite out of Marauders

Box Score Wayne, NE—Facing one of the four Northern Sun teams ranked in the top 10 in the country, the University of Mary volleyball team (3-9, 0-5 NSIC) fell to #8 Wayne State College (11-2, 3-2). Wayne State defeated U-Mary in three sets.

The Marauders were outhit .254 to .172. WSC narrowly outhit U-Mary in the first two sets before controlling the third .325 to .118.

Individually Allison Adams and Paige Smith had strong nights for the Marauders. Adams finished with team-high 10 kills, while hitting .381. Smith had nine kills while hitting .333. Elizabeth Gephardt was the game's top offensive performer with ten kills on just 11 attempts for a .909 hitting percentage.

 U-Mary limited their mistakes actually having fewer attack errors than Wayne State, but WSC's defense was too much to overcome. The Wildcats had 44 digs on just 93 Marauder attacks.

 U-Mary will begin a four-game home stand on Oct. 4 as they host Southwest Minnesota State University.
