Box Score Sioux Falls, MN—The University of Mary volleyball team was on the road Friday night to take on Augustana College. U-Mary (3-8, 0-4 NSC) was swept 3-0 by Augustana (10-2, 2-2).
Outhit .355 to .136 overall, U-Mary was outhit in all three sets. The Marauders' had seven team blocks to the Vikings three. U-Mary was outscored 75-45 in the three sets.
Alexis Jacobs was the Marauders' top performer finishing with nine kills and 11 digs, both of which were team-highs. Three different players had double-digit kills got the Vikings led by Kelsey Kaufmann's 11 kills. Kaufmann committed just one error and hit a game-high .625.
The Vikings jumped ahead early taking a 12-4 lead in the first set. U-Mary scored four straight to close the gap to four, but Augustana responded building their lead to double-digits as they took the first set 25-13. U-Mary's offense struggled in the first set hitting just .079.
The Marauders hit .219 in the second set, but the Vikings hit an impressive .421 and cruised to a 25-14 win. After Augustana spotted U-Mary a 3-0 lead in the third set, they went on a 6-0 run to take a 6-3 lead. The Marauders hung tight trailing 17-15 late in the match. With a 7-2 run Augustana retook control of the set going on to win the set 25-18 and the game 3-0.
With the loss the Marauders are now 0-10 all-time against Vikings.
U-Mary will be back in action on Saturday at #8 Wayne State College.
