Box Score 2 Mount Olive, N.C.—After a disappointing 3-1 loss to open the Mount Olive Tournament on Friday, the University of Mary volleyball team rebounded on Saturday with a come from behind 3-2 win over The University of Alabama in Huntsville (3-5) and a convincing 3-1 victory over Mount Olive College (0-7).

Alexis Jacobs was U-Mary's most consistent offensive player recording 30 kills (3.3/set) and hitting .238 for the day. Attributing to Jacobs' success was
Janell Finkbeiner's 61 assists (6.8/set). Anchoring the defensive effort in the Marauders' wins was
Alex Brown, who finished with 43 digs (4.8/set). U-Mary's top blocker from a year ago,
Paige Smith had 11 block assists in nine sets.

Lead by
Allison Opp's 16 kills and .286 hitting percentage, three U-Mary players recorded double-digit kills against UAH. Jacobs had 15 kills while hitting .220 and
Allison Adams had 12 while hitting .258. Jacobs also added 15 digs. Brown led the team with 25 digs, a season-high for the freshman defensive specialist. Finkbeiner had her first 30 plus assist game dishing out a match-high 34.

The Marauders dropped the first two sets and it looked as though the Chargers were ready to bring out the brooms. However, U-Mary responded in the third as the tightly contested set was tied late at 24. Jacobs, on an assist from
Emily Turkowski gave U-Mary a 25-24 lead, but UAH scored the next two points to take a 26-25 advantage. Opp evened the score at 26 and Boldt finished it off with two kills to give U-Mary new life with a 28-26 win.

The Marauders continued their momentum into the fourth set. Leading 12-10 U-Mary rattled off four consecutive points to take a 16-10 lead. The Marauders built their lead to as many as eight as they held on for a 25-18 win to even the match at 2-2.

With the score tied 5-5 in the final set, U-Mary scored nine of the next 10 points to take a commanding 14-6 lead as they went on to win the set 15-8 and the match 3-2.

Jacobs (15) and
Lauren Boldt (13) were U-Mary's leading hitters against Mount Olive. Boldt hit a game-high .348. Finkbeiner had 27 assists and 10 digs in the match. Brown, the only other Marauder with double-digit digs finished with 18.

U-Mary jumped ahead early with a 25-19 win in the first set. Trailing 23-22 late in the second set, the Trojans and Marauders exchanged points as MOC maintained a one point lead a 24-23. An attack error by U-Mary gave Mount Olive the second set and evened the match at 1-1.

The third set came down to the wire again due to a late U-Mary surge. Down 22-19, the Marauders scored four straight to take a 23-22 lead. MOC evened the scored at 24-24, but a kill by Boldt and an attack error by the Trojans gave the Marauders the set 26-24. With a 2-1 lead and the score tied at 12-12 in the fourth set, U-Mary pulled as they took the set 25-18 and the match 3-1.
