Bearcats Bottle Up Marauders Attack

U-Mary women's soccer falls 2-0 at SBU

Box Score Bolivar, MO – A scoreless contest through 60 minutes, the University of Mary was unable to contain the Southwest Baptist University attack in the final third of the game in a 2-0 Marauders loss to the Bearcats.

The Bearcats posted the first goal of the day when Kate Jamison corralled a deflected pass attempt and scored unassisted from the edge of the box 60:49 into the match. Amanda White sealed the game for SBU when she dribbled through traffic to score unassisted in the 76th minute of the game.

Marauders keeper Shelby Buttron was again busy in goal, making eight stops on the day. She had three stops in the first half and five after intermission. Buttron made nine stops in a season-opening scoreless tie against Minot State University last week.

U-Mary's offense was held in check by the SBU defense. The Marauders managed just four shots in the game, with none on frame. Alex Bachman-Williams recorded half the team's shots. The Bearcats produced 19 shots, including 10 on frame.

Now 0-1-1 on the season, the Marauders next face 24th ranked Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, on Sept. 12. The Bearcats improve to 2-1.
