Strong Start Turns South as Marauders Fall to Wildcats

Box Score Bismarck, ND—An energized University of Mary volleyball squad came out strong Friday night, Wayne State College quickly asserted itself in a sweep of U-Mary (17-25, 16-25, 9-25) in Northern Sun action.
 
Allison Adams, Alexis Jacobs and Paige Smith each had six kills for the Marauders. Adams led the way hitting .385 for U-Mary. Emily Turkowski finished with 21 assists, her second most of the season, and most in a three-set match.
 
For Augustana, Cori Hobbs led the way with nine kills while hitting .368. Leisa McClintock paced the offense with 31 assists. 
 
Unable to control Wayne State's serves, U-Mary's offense was in disarray and hit just .036. Defensively the Marauders started strong holding the Wildcats to just an .094 hitting percentage in the first set, but allowed WSC to set the tempo in the next two as they finished the match hitting .341.
 
Led by their three seniors Alicia Ewen, Allison Opp and Emily Turkowski, the Marauders will be back in action tomorrow night as they host their final game of the season. U-Mary will take on Augustana College at 6 p.m.
