Senior Night On, Off Field in Marauders 4-0 Win Over Wildcats

Box Score Bismarck, ND – It was only fitting that on Senior Night for the University of Mary, the four Marauders playing their final season would all contribute in a 4-0 home win over Wayne State College. All four of the U-Mary goals were scored in the first half.

Alex Bachman-Williams tallied twice and added an assist and fellow seniors Dayna Domingo and Quin Glaser each posted assists. Additionally Kaitin Walsh anchored the Marauders defensive efforts that kept the Wildcats scoreless.

Freshman Megan Searson and sophomore Mikayla Benjamin also posted big numbers as each scored a goal and picked up an assist. Additionally junior goalkeeper Shelby Buttron snared five saves in picking up her third shutout of the year and had a rare assist.

Wearing pink jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness Night, U-Mary broke on top in the 16th minute when Bachman-Williams took a thru ball from McGeary and hit a rolling shot into the left corner from 15 yards out.

The Marauders lead doubled at 27:00 when Domingo and Bachman-Williams fed Benjamin on a headlong pass that sprung her 1-on-1 with WSC keeper Kylie Comba. Benjamin easily beat Comba to the short side for her second goal of the season to push the lead to 2-0.

Glaser then entered the action, passing forward to Benjamin for a cross to Bachman-Williams on the left side of the 6-yard box. The Minot, ND, native headed the ball into the goal at 30:08 for a 3-0 U-Mary lead. It was her fifth goal of the season and the 33rd of her career.

McGeary closed the scoring on a tremendous effort by the first year player in the 44th minute. Taking a long ball from Buttron, McGeary sliced through the Wildcats defenders and blistered the ball into the net from 15 yards out to finish a coast-to-coast counter attack.

U-Mary finished the night with advantages in shots attempted (17-13) and shots on frame (10-5). Wayne State held the edge in corner kicks at 5-4.

The Marauders conclude Senior and Parents Weekend on Sunday, Oct. 20, when U-Mary hosts Augustana at 12 noon.
