Box Score Bismarck, ND—The University of Mary volleyball team fell to Saint Cloud State University (11-5, 5-3) in Northern Sun action on Friday night. The Marauders fell in three sets 17-25, 23-25 and 21-25.
Redshirt freshman
Alexis Jacobs turned in another strong performance finishing with a game-high 12 kills. Jacobs, who hit .214 for the match, has now finished in double digits in seven matches for the Marauders. Feeding Jacobs, freshman
Janell Finkbeiner set a new 3-set match-high with 28 assists.
Sophomore Allison Butler paced the Huskies offense with eight kills with just one error for a .538 hitting percentage. Butler also added seven digs.
In the first set the Marauders stayed within two early on and actually led 12-11. However, SCSU went on a 9-1 to open a seven-point lead that U-Mary was unable to overcome as it fell 25-17.
The Marauders continued their trend of playing strong in the second set outhitting the Huskies .128-.077. Despite trailing nearly the entire set, U-Mary and SCSU were tied 13 different times including at 23-23. The Marauders led briefly at 16-15 after a 5-0 run and again at 23-22. SCSU closed the set scoring the final three points to win 25-23.
U-Mary struggled early in the second set as it trailed 14-7. The Marauders rallied to score eight of the next 11 points to tie the set at 16-16. Four U-Mary errors sparked an SCSU run that allowed them to take a 22-17 lead. The Huskies held on for a 25-21 win in the final set to complete the sweep.
For the match the Marauders were outhit .202 to .113. U-Mary had 35 kills on 36 assists and SCSU 45 kills on 42 assists. The Marauders had a 41-37 edge in digs. Both teams blocking attacks were impressive finishing with 11 each.

Alex Brown set a new 3-set match-high with game-high 15 digs and junior
Allison Adams tied her career-high with seven blocks.
U-Mary (3-12, 0-8 NSIC) will take on #2 Minnesota Duluth on Saturday at 6 PM at the McDowell Activity Center.
