MARAUDERS SOCCER WEEKEND TICKET SALES DESIGNATED FOR MAKE-A-WISH: Ticket sales from the University of Mary men's and women's soccer games this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, wil be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Both teams will be in action on Saturday. The women host St. Cloud State University at 1 PM and the men face South Dakota School of Mines and Technology at 3:30 PM. The U-Mary women close the weekend on Sunday against the University of Minnesota Duluth at 1 PM. All games are at the MDU Resources Bowl... NCAA Division II is kicking off its Week of Wishes in partnership with Make-A-Wish America. Student-athletes across the country are engaged in fundraising efforts to transform the lives of young children. Division II has been a national sponsor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2003, raising over $1.9 million to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Together Division II has helped to grant more than 275 wishes.
THIS WEEKEND: The University of Mary begins its first extended home stand of the season when the Marauders host St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 12-13. The Marauders open the weekend against the Huskies on Saturday and face the Bulldogs on Sunday. Game time both days is 1 PM at the MDU Resources Bowl.
THE RECORDS: The Marauders enter the weekend with a record of 2-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the Northern Sun. U-Mary is tied for ninth in the NSIC with seven points... The Huskies are 5-4-1 and 2-4-1 for seven points in the NSIC to tie U-Mary for ninth... The Bulldogs are 7-2 and 6-1 in the NSIC to tie for third with 18 points.
LAST WEEK: The Marauders gained a weekend split of Northern Sun contests on the road, defeating Concordia-St. Paul 2-1 before a 4-0 loss at 5th-ranked Minnesota State University.
4: The Marauders begins their longest home stand of the year this weekend. After playing eight of their first ten games on the road, U-Mary will play their next four games at home.
CLOSING TIME: U-Mary has eight regular season games left this season. Always a strong second half club, the Marauders are a combined 30-12-6 over the last six seasons in the final eight scheduled games of the year. The Marauders finished on a 6-2 run last season, went 5-2-1 in 2010 and 2011, 4-3-1 in 2009, 5-2-1 in 2008 and 7-1 in 2007. Â
FIRST: Freshman midfielder
Michelle McGeary scored her first collegiate goal and added her first collegiate assist in the Marauders 2-1 win at Concordia-St. Paul. The native of Gillette, WY, intercepted a pass and scored unassisted in the seventh minute. She later fed
Alex Bachman-Williams for the winning header with less than 11 minutes remaining in the game.
31: With her game-winning goal at Concordia-St. Paul,
Alex Bachman-Williams moved into a tie for sixth on the Marauders all-time career goal scoring list. The senior forward from Minot, ND, now has 31 career goals to pull even with Jazellle Williams (2001-04). Next on the list is Kate Theisz (1996-98) with 35 goals. The Marauders all-time leader is school Hall of Famer Nicole Benedict (2002-05) with 66.Bachman-Williams became the ninth U-Mary player to reach 30 career goals earlier this season and the first to do so solely during the school's NCAA era (2006 and on).
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS GAME: The University of Mary women's soccer team is holding its Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Friday, Oct, 18. Team members are currently selling pink breast cancer awareness bracelets for $3 each. Proceeds from the sale will go the Bismarck Cancer Center. The team is creating a tribute video to show at intermission and will wear pink jerseys during the game. The match is set for 7 PM at the MDU Resources Bowl against Wayne State College.
PARENT AND SENIOR WEEKEND: The Marauders will recognize the parents of all team members and the graduating seniors when U-Mary hosts Wayne State College on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7 PM and Augustana at 12 noon on Sunday, Oct. 20. Seniors are

BUSY BUTTRON: Goalkeeper
Shelby Buttron has been kept busy this season. The Olathe, KS, native averages 6.0 saves/game, fourth in the NSIC and 40th in the NCAA. In her first season as U-Mary's starting keeper, she already has two shutouts and a 1.72 GAA.
