Bismarck, N.D. – The University of Mary got down early to Jamestown (0-3 NAIA) early but thanks to back-to-back wins by
Riley Nagel (174) and
Brady Anderson (184) they came from behind and won 24-13.
Anderson, now 12-3 on the season, was the bright spot for the Marauders. The senior from Hamilton, Montana pinned the Jimmies' Austin Werre just 1:41 into their match.
U-Mary started off the night with a pair of losses at 125 (major decision) and 133 (decision). With #2 ranked
Trevor Johnson not wrestling the 141 spot was left open and the Marauders needed someone else to step up.
Landon Della Silva (149) put U-Mary on the board with an 8-3 decision over Sam Brown to make the score 7-3. However, the Marauders would lose the next two matches by 4-2 decisions and trailed 13-3.
Wrestling at 174,
Riley Nagel jumped out 2-0 early with a takedown and held on for a hard-fought 4-0 win to close the gap to 13-6. In the final match of the night Anderson continued his early season success as he got up 8-1 in the first period before pinning his opponent less than two minutes into match.
Anderson's win was followed by Jamestown forfeits at 184 and 197 as U-Mary went on to win 24-13.
U-Mary (2-5, 1-4 NSIC) will be back in action on Friday as they head to St. Cloud State to take on the Huskies.
