Career-High by Knife and Season-High by Petersen Propels U-Mary Past UIU

Shaunna Knife had a career-high 15 rebounds and Laura Petersen had a season-high 17 points

Recording her 7th double double of the season Shaunna Knife grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds
Box Score Bismarck, N.D.— Down 7-0 to start the game it looked as though U-Mary was on pace to be upset by Upper Iowa (4-11, 1-7 NSIC). The Marauders, however, chipped away at the Peacock lead and held on to win 85-76.

U-Mary was led by the all-around effort of senior Shaunna Knife. Knife finished with 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Knife also added five blocks and four assists.

Carly Pagel, one of four Upper Iowa players in double figures, led the way with a game-high 22 points on 8-13 shooting.

The Peacocks out shot the Marauders 44 to 38 percent in the game, but U-Mary held an advantage from beyond the arc (50 to 47) and from the free throw line (85 to 77).

In a half dominated by runs, Upper Iowa came out strong in the first half jumping ahead 7-0. U-Mary called a timeout to slow the run and slowly chipped away at the lead. A three-point field goal by Knife assisted by Taylor Luke gave the Marauders their first lead of the night at 13-12. The lead did not last for long, however, as Upper Iowa built a 20-15 advantage. Not to be deterred the Marauders went on a 22-3 run behind 11 points from McKenzie Foster and seven from Laura Petersen. Foster was 3-3 shooting from deep during the run. The Peacocks answered with a 9-0 run and U-Mary entered the half up 42-37.

Leading by as many as 15, the U-Mary controlled the second half. Free throws allowed the Marauders to hold off the Peacocks as they knocked down 12-15 in the second half, including Ali Collins going a perfect 8-8 down the stretch.

Collins finished the game with a team-high 19 points. Petersen was next in line with a season-high 17.

For the game the Marauders led the rebounding battle 40-34 and the turnover battle 14-16. U-Mary's 14 turnovers is the second fewest they have had in conference play this season.

Next week U-Mary will be on the road for a trio of Northern Sun games. On Tuesday the Marauders will head up to Minot to face in-state rival Minot State. The Marauders will then travel south for the weekend to take on #5 Augustana and #19 Wayne State.
