With Four Players in Double Figures U-Mary Rolls Past Winona State

Collins, Knife, Clark and Sand each scored in double figures for the Marauders

Making her first career start Shanara Clark connected on 6-9 shots from the field for a career-high 12 points
Box Score Bismarck, N.D. – With four players in double figures U-Mary pulled out a 74-62 win over Winona State University (11-4. 5-3 NSIC). The Marauders (9-5, 4-4 NSIC) led by as many 18 and trailed for just 25 seconds the entire game.
 
Ali Collins and Shaunna Knife led U-Mary with 14 points each. Making her first career start, Shanara Clark tied her career-high with 12. With 11 points Lindsey Sand scored in double digits for her second time this season.
 
Collins had a game-high six assists and came just one rebound shy of her third double double of the season.
 
Michelle Tobin for WSU scored a game-high 16 points to go with nine rebounds.
 
The Marauders out shot the Warriors 50 to 40 percent on the game but were outrebounded 39-31. Despite giving up 16 offensive rebounds, U-Mary only allowed 12 second chance points. Even though they lost the rebounding battle, the Marauders owned the inside with a 40-24 advantage in scoring.
 
Just 2:02 into the first half and a three-point play by Laura Petersen gave the Marauders a lead they would not relinquish. Petersen's lay-up sparked a 17-2 run in which five different U-Mary players scored. Leading by as many as 18 in the period, the Marauders entered intermission up 35-24.
 
In the second half U-Mary led by as many as 15 and never allowed the lead to slip below eight.  Despite only making two three-point shots in the second half the Marauders were able to hold onto their led by connecting on 10 of their 17 shots from inside the arc.
 
The Marauders turned the ball over just 13 times in the game, their fewest in conference play.
 
U-Mary will be back in action tomorrow night as they take on Upper Iowa. Tip-off is slated for 4 PM and will be broadcast on NBC throughout the state.
