Bearcats Defense Shut Down Marauders

Box Score Bismarck, ND – For the second straight game, the University of Mary offense was bottled up by a school from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Marauders were shut out by #7 Central Missouri Thursday night before losing 2-0 today to Southwest Baptist University.

The Marauders (1-2 overall) took just three shots in the game, none of which were on frame. The Bearcats (2-2) managed 16 shots, including nine on goal.

Southwest Baptist opened the scoring with a controversial goal in the 19th minute. Off a corner kick, it appeared that Marauders goalkeeper Shelby Buttron caught the ball but the Bearcats Ali Skogrand ran into Buttron and knocked the ball out of her grasp and into the net.

The Bearcats found the net a second time when Karla Jamison tallied at 85:21 to seal the victory for Southwest Baptist.

The Marauders continue their five-game home stand when they host Southwest Minnesota State University on September 15.
