Tremendous Defensive Effort Comes up Short as Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 to Minnesota State

Box Score
Bismarck, ND — U-Mary women's soccer fell to #6 Minnesota State (7-1-1, 6-0 NSIC) in a hardfought match 1-0.

In the first half the Marauders did a good job of limiting the Mavericks scoring opportunities allowing only one shot on goal. With under a minute left it appeared as though U-Mary was going to take MSU into the half tied. However, a handball infront of the net would set the Mavericks up with a penalty kick.
Minnesota State's Caitlin Graboski scored on a penalty kick with 48 seconds remaining in the first half and the Marauders would enter the half trailing 1-0.

The Marauders defense continued their outstanding play in the second half as they where able to hold the sixth ranked Mavericks scoreless. Unfortunately U-Mary
struggled offensively as they were only able to muster one shot on goal. MSU's early goal would prove to be the deciding factor in the game as the Marauders would go on to lose by a final of 1-0.

Senior GK Ashley Akers recorded a game-high 6 saves for the Marauders.

U-Mary (3-5, 3-3 NSIC) will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1 PM as they take on Concordia-St Paul at the Community Bowl.
