Box Score Bismarck N.D. – Coming off of back to back conference wins, the University of Mary volleyball team fell in three games (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) to Winona State University. The Marauders were led on the night by freshman MB
Paige Smith who recorded six kills and seven block assists. With neither team hitting above .100, Smith led the game with a .250 hitting percentage.
The Marauders (2-8, 2-2 NSIC) did a good job of neutralizing Winona State's (12-2, 4-0 NSIC) front line, holding them to a .098 hitting percentage. Leading the Marauders defensive effort was senior defensive specialist
Valerie Lesu with a game-high 12 digs.
Despite the strong defensive effort, U-Mary struggled on offense hitting below .100 themselves. The Marauders logged just 26 kills to the Warriors 40.
Even with a strong start in the first set, U-Mary would drop the first one by a score of 25-22. WSU would command the second set, leading almost the entire time on their way to a 25-17 win. The third set proved to be another tight one as the Marauders actually out hit Winona .114 to .047. In the end, U-Mary would drop to third set as well.
Bekah Saugen of Winona State recorded a game-high 10 kills.

Emily Turkowski recorded a game-high 23 assists for the Marauders.
U-Mary volleyball will be back in action Saturday, September 22, at 6 PM as they take on conference opponent Upper Iowa University.
