Linda Murray posted her third straight double double and the University of Mary pulled out a 76-67 win over visiting Winona State University in the opening round of the Northern Sun / Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament. The Marauders advance to the tournament semifinals and will face Augustana on Saturday, March 3.
A topsy turvey game down the stretch, the two teams combined for six lead changes and three ties in the final eight minutes of the game. U-Mary led the whole night until Winona State overcame a 12 point deficit and took the lead for the first time all game with 8:01 remaining.

Lindsey Sand hit a free throw to even the game with 4:53 on the clock. A
Shaunna Knife layup off a feed from
Kayla Schmidt broke the tie and put U-Mary out in front for good at 62-60. U-Mary's lead would blossom to six when Schmidt hit one of her five three pointers in the game.
The Marauders would finish the Warriors off at the free throw line, making 9-of-11 attempts in the final 3:38 of the game. For the game U-Mary went 23 of 30 at the line.
Compiling her ninth double double of the season, Murray led all players with 20 points and 11 rebounds. 8-of-10 at the free throw line, the junior post player also had two blocks.
Schmidt posted 16 points on the night and added five rebounds.
Ali Collins had 15 points, five assists and two steals. Both Collins and Schmidt played 40 minutes.
Sand chipped in 12 points off the bench. She hit both her three point attempts in the game and went 6-of-8 on free throws.
Katie Wolff knocked down six treys for the Warriors and paced them with 18 points. Michelle McDonald had 15 points and Abby Busch 14.
Winona State held a 43-39 advantage on the boards but turned the ball over 17 times to just 12 for U-Mary.
The third seed in the tournament, the Marauders now face second-seeded Augustana on Saturday, March 3, at 5 PM in the Taylor Center in Rochester, MN.
