Darius Robinson hit the go-ahead shot with 1:52 remaining in the game and the University of Mary held off multiple Wayne State College attempts to regain the lead in the Marauders 61-60 road win over the Wildcats.
 
Damon Smith continued his outstanding play for the Marauders, scoring 18 points, pulling down nine rebounds and blocking three shots. All totals were game highs. His biggest points of the night were two free throws with 22 seconds left in the game to give U-Mary an insurmountable three point lead.
 
Trailing 54-46 with 6:33 on the clock, Robinson began the Marauders rally with a jumper. After a defensive stop, 
Lamada Williams drove the lane for a layup. Smith then grabbed a defensive rebound and scored on the other end of the floor and U-Mary found itself down by just two points.
 
A Derrell Williams free throw gave the Wildcats a three point lead but Smith scored off a feed from Robinson to pull the Marauders within a point. Darren Moore would blow a dunk attempt for Wayne State, opening the door for U-Mary to take the lead on another layup by 
Lamada Williams. Fouled in the process, 
Lamada Williams made his free throw to complete the three-point play and the Marauders led 57-55.
 
Two free throws by Derrell Williams would even the game to set up the game-winning shot by Robinson. Derrell Williams would respond by making just one of two free throws to get the Wildcats within one. A Marauders turnover opened the door for the Wildcats to take the lead but Wayne State missed a layup and two three-pointers before 
Josh Turner would finally grab a defensive rebound, leading to Smith's two free throws.
 
Vontrel Seroyer's layup kept Wayne State in the game at 61-60 and 14 seconds showing on the clock. A turnover by the Marauders would give the Wildcats another shot to win the game but Seroyer missed the layup. Fouled after corralling the rebound, 
Baley Johnson missed the front end of the bonus but Wayne State's last ditch shot at the buzzer fell short.
 
The Marauders had lost to the Wildcats earlier this season, one of nine games U-Mary had lost that was decided in the final minute of play.
 
Lamada Williams scored a career-high 17 points for U-Mary in his second start of the season and added three assists and three steals. Robinson came off the bench to score 11 points. He also chipped in three assists.
 
Ryan Rolfzen scored 18 points for the Wildcats. He was 6-of-8 on three-point attempts. Amry Shelby and Williams both had 14 points.
 
Both teams are 6-16 overall and 5-13 in the NSIC.
 
The Marauders next play at Augustana on Saturday, February 11.
