Smith, Dorr Stellar but Vikings Blow Past Marauders

Box Score Sioux Falls, SD – The University of Mary frontcourt duo of Damon Smith and Alex Dorr combined to score 36 points but the Marauders had no answer for a hot-shooting Augustana College offense in an 89-66 loss on the road to the Vikings.

Smith and Dorr made a combined 14-of-19 shots from the field. Smith led U-Mary with 21 points. The league leader in blocked shots rejected four. He also had three assists and three rebounds.

Dorr was perfect from the field, making all five attempts. He also made all three shots from behind the arc and converted both free throw attempts on the way to scoring 15 points. The junior forward led the team with six rebounds.

Darius Robinson added eight points off the bench for U-Mary and Lamada Williams posted seven.

As a team the Marauders (6-17 overall, 5-14 NSIC) shot 46.4 per cent from the field but that was no match for the 56.1 per cent rate that the Vikings (15-8, 12-7) clocked along at.

Cameron McCaffrey led Augie with 22 points. Drae Murray added 18 and Cody Schilling posted 16.

The Vikings scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed. A Robinson trey would get the Marauders within two but Augie scored the next ten points to kick off a 19-4 run that built a 17 point lead. The closest the Marauders would get the rest of the night was 13 points in the second half before the Vikings rebuilt their advantage to as many as 27 points.

The Marauders return home to begin a three-game home stand starting with Concordia University – St. Paul on Friday, February 17.
