Wolves' Runs Doom Marauders

Each set saw NSU go on a run of six or more consecutive points

Box Score Aberdeen, S.D. – The University of Mary failed to find their rhythm as they fell to Northern State University 3-0 (13-25, 12-25, 21-25).
 
Lauren Boldt paced the offensive attack for the Marauders with 6 kills and a .200 hitting percentage.
 
Kaleinani Kabalis of Northern State lead all players with 12 kills and Drew Smith had a game-high 37 assists.
 
Up 4-3 in the first set after a kill by Boldt, U-Mary allowed Northern State (16-10, 11-7 NSIC) to go on a 7-0 run that left them trailing by six. The Marauders scored to of the next three points, but the Wolves went on another run, this time 6-0, to extend their lead to 17-6. NSU went on to win the first set 25-13.
 
The Marauders came back in the second set and took an early 3-1 lead. The Wolves went on another big run as they took the next nine points. Down 10-3, U-Mary was unable to close the gap and trailed by as much as 13 in the set. NSU took the set 25-12 and a 2-0 lead going into intermission.
 
The Marauders came out of the break strong. A kill by Allison Adams and sandwiched by a pair of Northern attack errors gave U-Mary a 15-13 lead. The Wolves, however, went on yet another run. Rattling off six consecutive points, NSU took the lead 19-15. The run proved to be enough as Northern State took the third set 25-21 and the game 3-0.
 
Defensively Boldt and Valerie Lesu each had 11 digs for the Marauders. U-Mary also continued their successful blocking game adding nine on the night. Adams and Morgan Dake each had five block assists.
 
The Marauders were outhit .245 to .051

U-Mary (3-22, 3-15 NSIC) will be back on action on Friday as they head to St. Cloud to take on the Huskies.  U-Mary defeated St. Cloud State 3-1 earlier in the season.
