Volleyball Drops Season Finale

Box Score Duluth, Minn. – In their final game of the 2012 season, the University of Mary fell to #5 Minnesota Duluth 3-0.
 
The Marauders offense struggled to get anything going as they hit -.044 as a team.
 
Morgan Dake continued her steady play in conference action hitting .333 with five kills.
 
2011 AVCA All-American Kate Lange led the Bulldogs (27-3, 18-2 NSIC) with 13 kills while hitting a game-high .391.
 
The Marauders got of to a disappointing start as they trailed 14-0 before dropping the first set 25-3. U-Mary improved their effort in the second, but fell 25-11. Five of the Marauders 11 points came off of Bulldog errors.
 
With the end of the season in sight, U-Mary played their best in the third set. The Marauders jumped out to a 9-5 lead by capitalizing on five Bulldog errors. But UMD did not give up as they went on a 6-0 run to take the lead 11-9. Going back and forth U-Mary took the lead 18-17 on an ace by Paige Smith. UMD pulled away, however, as they went on to win the set 25-19 and the game 3-0.
 
The loss concluded the careers of three U-Mary (3-24, 3-17 NSIC) seniors. Valerie LesuBrianna Smith and Hailee Walsh each played the final game of their careers.
