Bulldogs Bite Marauders 2-0

Box Score Duluth, MN – Unable to keep pace with the offensive pressure applied by the homestanding University of Minnesota Duluth, the University of Mary lost 2-0 in Northern Sun women's soccer.
 
The Marauders managed just four shots in the game, including two on frame. The Bulldogs dominated the stat sheet, piling up 24 shots with 14 on goal. The Bulldogs also held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
 
Able to keep the game even most of the first half, the Marauders finally cracked in the 44th minute when Dani Potter struck for the first of two goals. Off a scramble following a failed shot attempt, Potter was able to score off a rebound.
 
Potter sealed the game in the 75th minute, scoring on a penalty kick.
 
The Marauders goalies stayed busy all day and kept U-Mary in the game. Allyson Sweep started in goal and made three saves in the first 8:16. After finishing an entrance exam for post-graduate work, regular keeper Ashley Akers then entered the game and made eight saves the rest of the match.
 
Marissa Rosa made two saves to gain the shutout for the Bulldogs.
 
The Marauders now travel to St. Cloud State for a conference match on Sunday, October 7.
