Marauders Rout Golden Eagles on Senior Day

Box Score Mandan, ND – Alex Bachman-Williams scored two goals and Ashley Tuschling scored one goal and assisted on another as the University of Mary routed the University of Minnesota Crookston 5-1. The win extends the Marauders win streak to three games and keeps the squad tied for sixth in the Northern Sun standings.
 
The Marauders evened their season record at 7-7 overall and improve to 7-5 in conference play. UMC is 2-12-1 and 2-9-1.
 
On a day honoring the Marauders three seniors – Ashley Akers, Michelle Jones and Tuschling – while raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research, U-Mary jumped out to a quick lead. In just the first 7:32 of play the Marauders found the net three times.
 
Andrea Muller opened the scoring. Following up the deflection on a shot by Tuschling, the Marauders sophomore forward knocked home the rebound 1:16 into the match.
 
A scant 1:14 later, Bachman-Williams blasted home a goal into the right side of the net from 20 yards out off a feed from Dayna Domingo.
 
Two of the Marauders seniors teamed up for the third goal. Off a corner kick served by Jones, Tuschling scored her first goal of the season on a header.
 
U-Mary tallied twice more before intermission. Bachman-Williams beat the UMC keeper high and left on a header off a pass from Destiny Glaser. In the 44th minute Jacquelyn Smith found the net after a feed from Quin Glaser.
 
Elizabeth Busch scored UMC's lone goal in the 59th minute.
 
Akers posted five saves in the game.
 
Both teams posted 12 shots with U-Mary holding a narrow 7-6 edge in shots on frame. The Marauders held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks but committed 11 fouls to three for the Golden Eagles.
 
The Marauders close out the weekend against 5th place Bemidji State University on October 21 at 2 PM at Dacotah Centennial Field in Mandan, ND.
