Muller Scores Lone Goal as Marauders Capsize Vikings

Box Score Sioux Falls, SD – The University of Mary struck early on a goal by Andrea Muller and tenaciously held onto the advantage to defeat Augustana College 1-0 in Northern Sun women's soccer. This is the first road win for the Marauders this season in five games.

Muller put the Marauders on the board just 3:26 into the game. Taking a feed from Alex Bachman-Williams, the sophomore forward from West Fargo, ND, dribbled past the Vikings defense and finished high and left into the net.

The Vikings would apply pressure all day but the Marauders defense held strong. In the last seven minutes of the game Augustana shot the ball six times. Five of the Vikings scoring attempts went wide but Marauders goalkeeper Ashley Akers came up with a save with just 1:47 left on the clock to preserve the win.

Akers made five saves in the game, including four in the second half. This was the second shutout of the season for the senior from Casper, WY.

Augie would enjoy an 18-7 edge in shots attempted but held only a 5-2 advantage in attempts on frame. Augie also enjoyed six corner kicks to two for U-Mary.

The Marauders improve to 5-7 overall and 5-5 in the NSIC. The Vikings slip to 4-7-2 and 3-5-2.

U-Mary concludes its four-game road trip at Wayne State College on Sunday, October 14. Match time is set for 1 PM.
