Box Score Bismarck, ND — The Marauders came out strong and took the first set against #13 Minnesota State, but went on to fall 3-1.
U-Mary was paced offensively by
Allison Opp, who finished with a team-high 13 kills, her fifth double-digit performance of the year.
Minnesota State's Chelsea Fogarty led all players with 17 kills.
The Marauders and Mavericks played back and forth the entire first set. No team led by more than two at any point in the set. Tied 24-24 MSU committed an error to give U-Mary the lead 25-24. With the game on the line, the Mavericks committed another error to give the Marauders a 26-24 win.
U-Mary came out strong again in the second game. Down by one, a kill by
Lauren Boldt tied the game at 12-12. MSU responded by going on a 4-0 run and took the lead for good. The Marauders managed to keep it close, but the Mavericks pulled out a 25-20 win in the set.
The third looked much like the second. Again a kill by Boldt tied the game, this time at 15-15. The Marauders looked to be in good position, but another run by the Mavericks, this time 7-1, put the game out of reach. U-Mary went on to drop the set 25-20.
Down 2-1 the Marauders were able to keep the fourth set close early, but the Mavericks were too strong down the stretch. Tied 9-9 early on, U-Mary would go on to drop the fourth set 25-20 and the game 3-1.
Emily Turkowski recorded her fifth 30 plus assist game, as she tallied 35 on the night. Defensively
Valerie Lesu picked up her fifth 20 plus dig performance, finishing with a game-high 20.
Minnesota State out hit U-Mary .254 to .174 on the night.
The Marauders will be back in action tomorrow as they take on #6 Concordia University at 3 p.m. at the McDowell Activity Center.
