Box Score Bismarck, ND - A cold shooting night by the University of Mary and a big run at the end of the first half by 16th-ranked Augustana sailed the Vikings to a 58-45 win over the Marauders. U-Mary shot just 36.5 per cent from the field and Augie entered intermission on a 16-2 run.
A close game much of the first half, a layup by Josh Turner gave the Marauders (2-5 overall, 1-2 NSIC) a 15-14 lead with five minutes left before intermission. Drae Murray would jump start the Vikings (6-1, 3-0), scoring eight of the game's next ten points and lead Augie on a 16-2 tear to finish the half with a 30-17 lead.
The Vikings started the second half by scoring the first four points out of the locker room. Eventually Augie would lead by as many as 19 points.
The Marauders shot just 21.7 per cent in the first half and would end the day at 37.3 per cent from the floor. The Vikings clipped along at a 46.2 per cent pace on the night. Neither team was effective behind the arc. The Marauders were 3-of-16 and the Vikings were 4-of-12.
Neither team was effective getting to the line. U-Mary made 4-of-6 free throws and Augie went 6-of-7 at the line.
Darius Robinson led the Marauders with 11 points, making 5-of-7 shots from the field. Damon Smith had eight points, five rebounds and a game-high four blocks. Turner chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.
Murray paced the Vikings with 19 points and seven rebounds. He was 8-of-11 from the field, including a 3-of-4 effort beyond the arc. Cameron McCaffrey added 15 points and made 6-of-8 field goal attempts.
The Marauders close the weekend out at home against Wayne State College on Saturday, December 10.
