Vikings Sail Past Marauders

Box Score Bismarck, ND - One of the top three-point shooting and rebounding teams in the Northern Sun, the University of Mary ceded both those categories to Augustana as the Vikings sailed past the Marauders 93-65. Augie held a 50-35 advantage in rebounding and claimed a 14-4 edge in three pointers.

The Vikings (6-1 overall, 3-0 NSIC), who are receiving votes in the national poll, scored first and never trailed during the game. The Marauders (4-3, 1-2) made a move to close a double digit gap and pulled within five points on a three-pointer by Kayla Schmidt. It was as close as U-Mary would get. Augustana went on a 20-3 run and would lead 47-27 at intermission.

U-Mary could do nothing to stem the tide in the second half. The Marauders deficit would grow to as many as 32 points.

Ali Collins scored a game-high 19 points for the Marauders. she had seven rebounds and three steals. Laura Petersen added 12 points. Kayla Schmidt had a team-high eight rebounds and added six points and three steals.

Shaunteva Ashley scored 16 points off the bench to lead Augie, one of five Vikings in double figures. Alex Feeney (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Faith Tinklenberg (13 and 12) both had a double double for the Vikings. Feeney also had six assists and three treys.

The Marauders next host #4 Wayne State College on Saturday, December 10, at 4 PM.
