Box Score St. Cloud, MN - Trailing by 19 points in the second half, the University of Mary women's basketball team rallied furiously to claim a 58-56 win at St. Cloud State University to open Northern Sun competition.
Lindsey Sand hit two free throws with four seconds remaining in the game to win the game and extend U-Mary's win streak to four games.
Struggling offensively well into the second half after committing 18 turnovers before intermission alone, the Marauders eventually trailed 45-26 with 12:06 left in the game. U-Mary would suddenly come to life and the Marauders (4-1 overall, 1-0 NSIC) would outscore the Huskies (3-2, 0-1) 32-11 the remainder of the game.
Shaunna Knife resurrected the Marauders, scoring eight points and assisting on a basket by Kaitlyn Haag as U-Mary went on a 15-4 run.
U-Mary finally grabbed a 49-48 lead on a Haag bucket. SCSU went back in front but Knife nailed a three-pointer for a 52-51 U-Mary advantage. In the final three minutes there were five lead changes and three ties. The Marauders regained the lead for good when Sand hit both her free throw with four seconds left on the clock.
Ali Collins led the Marauders with 19 points and added four steals and six rebounds. Knife struck for 15, knocking down three treys in four tries and retrieving seven rebounds.
Off the bench, Sand scored nine points after making all six free throw attempts. Haag had eight with four rebounds and two steals. Linda Murray ripped down nine rebounds.
Aaryn Booker scored 13 points off the bench for SCSU.
U-Mary returns to action at Concordia University - St. Paul on December 3.
