NCAA Div. I Phoenix Burn by Marauders in Season Opener

Box Score Green Bay, WI - Facing an NCAA Division I foe to open the 2011-12 season was a little too daunting a task for the University of Mary. Darius Robinson scored 16 points and Lamada Williams 14 in their Marauders debuts but the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay rolled over U-Mary 94-55.

The Phoenix scored the first 17 points of the game before Alex Dorr hit a three pointer for the Marauders with over seven minutes gone by in the game. Behind a layup by Jalen Jaspers and a layup and trey from Robinson, U-Mary would get within 11 points before Green Bay rebuilt its lead to 40-21 at intermission.

A member of the Horizon League, the same as two-time NCAA Division I runner-up Butler, Green Bay continued to roll in the second half. The Phoenix shot 55.9 per cent from the field after hitting 44.1 per cent in the opening half. The Marauders improved from 29 per cent to 40 per cent.
Green Bay shot 29 free throws, making 20, compared to a 6-of-7 effort afforded the Marauders.

One of the top junior college scorers in the nation last year after averaging over 21 points per game, Robinson hit half his 12 shots on the way to 16 points. He hit two treys and both free throw attempts. Williams was 6-of-11 from the field and made both trey attempts. He tied for the team lead in rebounds with five.

Josh Turner added eight points and five boards and Jaspers chipped in six points, four rebounds and three assists.

Alec Brown controlled the interior for the Phoenix, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Terry Johnson added 15 points and Greg Mays had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Marauders return to the court at Chadron State College on November 15.
