Entering his 2nd season as a coach with the Marauders, Buesgens is as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s track and field programs coaching the high jump, pole vault, javelin, and the multi-events.
During the 2020 indoor season, seniors D'Andra Morris and Shenley Allen continued their success in the high jump. Morris earned her third conference championship in the event, while Allen's season best jump of 2.10m earned him a trip to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships for the third time in his career. In the men's heptathlon, senior Jackson Penner improved his lifetime best score in the event while achieving personal bests in the 60m, 60mH, high jump, pole vault, and the 1,000m run during the indoor season. His score of 4,799 ranked him 38th in the nation among Division II competitors, and 2nd all-time at the University of Mary.

Prior to joining the coaching staff at the University of Mary, Buesgens was a student athlete at Minnesota State, Mankato. On the track, he was apart of 6 conference championship teams with the Mavericks, specializing in the heptathlon indoors and the decathlon outdoors. Buesgens is a top-10 all-time performer at MSU Mankato in the heptathlon (5th with 4,967 points), the decathlon (7th with 6,437 points), and the javelin throw (3rd with 53.44m). He has achieved the NCAA Division II provisional national qualifying standard 8 different times in his career competing in the multi-events and is a 2-time NCAA Division II All-Academic recipient.

A native of Chaska, MN, Buesgens graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Mary.
