This week's NDPF Male Athlete of the Week is Zyon Smith. Smith played a major role this past week in each of the Marauders wins, which included the first conference victory of the season over Minot State and two victories to claim the Florida Tech Thanksgiving Tournament title. On Tuesday, Smith scored 18 points, hit three treys, and dished out three assists to help pace the Marauders in a 72-69 win over the rivals up north. On Friday, the Marauders won their first game in Florida over Trevecca Nazarene 72-56, a game where Smith scored 15 points while making 7 of 11 contested buckets (63.6%). The Marauders claimed the tournament trophy on Saturday by picking up an 82-61 win over Puerto Rico-Bayamon, where Smith scored 11 points. Zyon Smith was named Tournament MVP for his performance through the two games, and Kam Warrens also picked up All-Tournament Team honors. Smith is a junior from Montgomery, AL and currently leads the Marauders in scoring with 12.8 points per game.
