This week's NDPF Female Athlete of the Week is Kendra Park. Park had an electric game Friday night as the leading scorer for UMary Soccer led the Marauders to a big conference victory over Concordia - St. Paul 2-0. After taking a pass from Kaitlyn Schwass, Rio Spruenken played a perfect ball from midfield down the right flank to Park, who gathered the ball at the top right of the penalty area. The Golden Bears goalkeeper came out to try and knock the ball away from Park but was a step slow. The sophomore raced past Waldon to the middle of the right edge of the penalty area before firing a shot toward the goal that bested two more defenders to open the scoring 13 minutes into the contest. Less than seven minutes later Park was again racing past the Golden Bears defense. Chasing down a long pass unleashed from Yasmina Dokara over the top of the defense from midfield, Park caught up to the ball just inside the top left of the penalty area and one-timed a shot with her left foot into the right side of the net for a 2-0 UMary lead, and the eventual final score. Park, a sophomore from Lake Havasu City, AZ, has a team-high 6 goals plus 3 assists on the season thus far.
