New Orleans – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association had honored five members of the University of Mary women's track and field team with All-American plaudits for the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field season. The quintuplet led the Marauders to tenth place at the national championship, U-Mary's best NCAA finish.
Melissa Agnew leads the Marauders contingent with two citations. The junior from Onamia, MN, was honored for her efforts at the NCAA championships in the 1,500 and 800 meter runs. An eight-time All-American, Agnew finished second in the 1,500 and third in the 800.
Jennifer Agnew picked up her second NCAA All-American honor when the junior from Onamia, MN, placed sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
In her final collegiate meet,
Miranda Fehilly placed fifth in the nation in the pole vault. The senior from Sidney, MT, earned All-American honors for the first time at her second national meet.
Ranked 17
th in the nation in the 200 meter dash, freshman
Kathryn Stewart exceeded her seed by placing eighth in the finals. The Kingston, Jamaica, native also earned All-American honors in this event during the indoor season.
Dakota Wolf placed fifth in the 1,500 meter run finals, just .04 seconds out of fourth place. Earning outdoor All-American honors for the first time, the junior from Dickinson, ND, led the Marauders to fifth in the nation in cross country in the fall and twice earned All-American recognition at the indoor championships.
To earn All-America honors, athletes must have scored any portion of a team point at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. USTFCCCA membership by a program is required to earn All-America awards.
