Night of Champions Award Ceremony Honors 15 Marauders

Bismarck, ND – The first University of Mary Night of Champions honored 15 Marauders student-athletes for their athletic, academic, community service and leadership successes.

Dickinson, ND, natives Tyler Steffan and Dakota Wolf captured the Athlete of the Year honors. A junior on the football field and a senior in baseball, Steffan was named to the AFCA All-American football team after leading the nation in touchdown receptions. A three-time All-American already this year, Wolf led the Marauders to a fifth-place finish in the NCAA cross country championships, an NSIC women's indoor track and field championship, and 13th place at the NCAA indoor championships.

Seniors Tad Harman (men's track and field, Moses Lake, WA) and Tabitha Mabrey (volleyball, Coeur D'Alene, ID) are the 2011-12 Marauders Academic Athletes of the Year.

The Inspirational Athletes of the Year are junior Alicia Nehl (women's cross country / track and field, Watauga, SD) and seniors# Baley Johnson# (men's basketball, Des Moines, IA) and Martin Patron (wrestling, Modesto, CA)

The Community Service Athletes of the Year are junior Collin Engelhardt (wrestling, Bismarck, ND) and senior Brianna Thomas (tennis, Minot, ND).

Earning recognition as the Marauders Strength Athletes of the Year are sophomores Troy Guptill (football, Quinn, SD) and Lindsey Sand (women's basketball, Steele, ND).

The Unsung Student-Athletes of the Year are sophomore Mike Johnson (men's basketball, Grand Rapids, MN) and senior Brooke Hageness (softball, Libby, MT).

The Rookies of the Year are Linda Murray (women's basketball Fresno, CA), a junior, and sophomore Trevor Johnson (wrestling, Bismarck, ND).

Marauders athletics also recognized student-athletes who earned academic and athletic honors and participated in NCAA championship play.
