Portland, Ore. – Sophomore midfielder
Aaron Mc Elwee was named Red Lion GNAC Offensive Player of the Week. Hailing from Sion Mills, North Ireland, Mc Elwee recieved the honor after recording two assists in U-Mary's 4-1 victory over Sioux Falls in in their season finale.
Mc Elwee assisted on the Marauders second and fourth goals of the game. The sophomore's first assist came after a scramble in front of the net that was eventually finished by
Dace Moerkerke in the 23rd minute to take a 2-0 lead. In the 72nd minute Mc Elwee took the corner for U-Mary and delivered the ball to
Joe Wood who headed the ball to extend the lead to 4-1.
Mc Elwee's award marks the second consecutive week a Marauders player has received a GNAC weekly award. Last week sophomore forward
Rory Pratt was also named offensive player of the week.
Mc Elwee finished the season second on the team in assists with four and third on the team in points with sixth. With the win over Sioux Falls, Mc Elwee and the Marauders finish their first season as part of the GNAC with a 4-8-2 record in league play.
