Tremendous Trio of Seniors Push Marauders to Fourth Straight NCAA Championship Berth

U-Mary Places 3rd at NCAA Central Regional

NCAA CENTRAL REGION RESULTS
 
Joplin, MO – Powered by a tremendous trio of seniors, the University of Mary women's cross country team earned its fourth straight trip to the NCAA championships. The Marauders finished third at the NCAA Central Region meet as Melissa Agnew, Dakota Wolf and Alicia Nehl each earned All-Region recognition.
 
A two-time cross country All-American, Agnew placed second overall to lead the Marauders regional efforts. The senior from Onamia, MN, led the 6,000 meter race at the halfway point before dropping one slot. She traversed the trail in a time of 20:48.9.
 
Wolf finished just two places behind Agnew as the senior from Dickinson, ND, claimed fourth. The All-American held her spot throughout the run and clocked a time of 21:00.3.
 
The Marauders third senior, Nehl captured all-region honors for the first time after snaring 15th place. The native from Watauga, SD, was 30th at the halfway point before crossing the finish line in 21:52.9.
 
Two sophomores closed out the team scoring for U-Mary. Nicole Huelsman recorded a time of 22:32.5 to claim 43rd and Sarah Grimm placed 92nd overall in 23:27.5. Junior Kelsey Lambrecht was 141st in 24:48.2.
 
U-Mary posted a team score of 149. Defending national champion Augustana claimed the regional title with a score of 29. Winona State University was second at 108. Missouri Southern State University placed fourth with 160 points and Pittsburg State claimed the fifth and final slot for the NCAA championships at 162.
 
26 teams and 179 individuals competed in the Central Region meet.
 
Wolf and Agnew will now compete at the NCAA championships for the fourth straight year. Nehl will be making her second appearance.
 
The top five teams in today's Central Region meet returns to Joplin, MO, for the NCAA Championships on November 17.
