Known for a rocket arm and a will to win, Tim Garcia led the Marauders to 19 wins and two NAIA playoff appearances in his two seasons at the University of Mary. A two-time All-DAC-10 selection, his win total ties the Marauders mark for most wins over a two-year period.
Tim arrived at U-Mary in 2002 after two seasons playing in his home town at Modesto (CA) Junior College. He immediately led the Marauders to a 9-2 record overall and a DAC-10 championship with an 8-1 conference mark, advancing to the Elite Eight of the NAIA playoffs. As a junior, Tim threw for 2,629 yards, the second-best mark in school history, while completing 181 of 309 passes and 29 touchdowns with just five interceptions. His signature game of the season came in a 40-34 win over Valley City State University when he threw for school-records with 473 yards passing and six touchdowns to earn conference player of the week honors for the first of two times in his career.
As a senior in 2003, Tim guided the Marauders to a record of 10-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Once again U-Mary advanced to the NAIA Elite Eight after defeating Azusa Pacific 20-2 in the opening round. For the season, Tim again threw 29 touchdown passes, completing 193 passes out of 300 attempts for 2,525 yards with just six interceptions. His outstanding play earned him DAC-10 Most Valuable Player honors.
For his career, Tim threw for 5,154 yards and 58 touchdowns to land him second all-time in Marauders history while guiding U-Mary to a combined record of 19-4.
Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of Mary and is currently a successful head football coach at Central Valley High School in Ceres, CA, where he also is a physical education teacher. Tim and his wife Danelle have an 11 month old daughter named Hannah.
