One of the driving forces on the lone U-Mary national championship team in the school‘s history, Thai (Goecke) Haggin capped her senior season by guiding the Marauders to the 2000 NAIA women’s basketball championship.
Thai started every game she played for the Marauders after stepping on the court as a freshman in 1996 to play for Head Coach Roger Haug. During those four seasons, U-Mary won the ND College Athletic Conference (NDCAC) championship each year. Three times competing with the Marauders in the NAIA national tournament, Thai finished her outstanding career with a national championship in 2000. She led her team to an overall record of 99-29.
A two-time All-NDCAC performer, Thai averaged 11.8 points a game as a senior. She finished with 1,195 career points and currently ranks 10th on the all-time U-Mary scoring list. Her career total of 327 is ranked eighth in school history. Thai was previously inducted into the Marauders Hall of Fame in 2005 along with her teammates in the 2000 Marauders women’s basketball squad.
