An original member of the University of Mary varsity football team in 1988, Mike Jaskolski (1988-91) was an imposing physical presence on the defensive line for the Marauders who earned professional football opportunities following his college career.
After arriving at U-Mary from Pinedale, WY, in 1988 as a three-sport athlete, Jaskolski soon gave up track and basketball to focus solely on football. The decision proved prescient. A four-year contributor on the gridiron, he earned All-North Dakota College Athletic Conference honorable mention honors as a junior in 1990.
In just the fourth year of the U-Mary football program in 1991, the Marauders would take a big leap forward and Jaskolski was a major reason why. Named a team captain, the Marauders defensive player of the year led U-Mary to a record of 7-2, the first winning season in the program's short history. He would also claim NAIA All-American honorable mention honors and earn All-NDCAC first team recognition.
Following the season he received National Football League tryouts with the Chicago Bears, New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders, but injuries cut his career short. An opportunity to play in the USFL was also struck down by injury.
Jaskolski finished his career with 227 tackles, fourth in school history. He is sixth in career sacks with 19 and seventh in tackles for loss with 27.
The son of Thomas and Melba Jaskolski, Mike studied business and physical education at U-Mary before leaving school to pursue professional football opportunities. He is the self-employed owner of MJaz Consulting and works in the oil fields of North Dakota and Wyoming for EOG Resources as a drilling fluids superintendent. Living in Laramie, WY, and married to Laurie Jaskolski, Mike has four children: Ryan Reh, a U-Mary student and Marauders football cheerleader, Jordan Pivic, Aspen Jaskolski and Michael Jaskolski.
