Providing an immediate impact on one of the top wrestling programs in the country, Justin Currie was a four-time All-American at the University of Mary during his career, one of only six Marauders to accomplish this feat.
Travelling south down Highway 83, the native of Minot, ND, arrived at the University of Mary in the fall of 1996. Despite joining a team that was the NAIA national runners up the year before, Currie made a name for himself. As a freshman, he placed 5th at the 1997 NAIA championships at 142 to help the Marauders place 2nd nationally once again. Moving up a weight class to 150, Currie also improved his national standing, finishing 4th place as UMary claimed 5th. A team captain as a junior and senior, he set a career-high for wins (40-7) and pins (23) as he claimed 5th at nationals with UMary placing 6th overall. Currie wrapped up his career in impressive fashion. A conference champion for a 3rd straight year, the conference most valuable player and a regional champion for the 3rd time, Currie was the NAIA national runner-up at 157 while leading UMary to 3rd place as a team. He finished with a mark of 37-2.
Over the span of his career, Currie was a 4-time NAIA All-American, a 3-time conference champion, a 3-time regional champion and a 2-time team captain with a record of 137-25.
A Dean’s List student at the University of Mary, the son of Curt and Debbie Currie earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with minor in Management Information Systems in 2000 and a Master’s degree in Management in 2002.
