As a freshman, Jon Ahneman made an immediate impact on the Marauder football team. That year, 1992, the Marauders captured the conference title. His leadership on the field led the team to two more conference titles and two national play-off appearances. As a senior, the Bismarck native led his team to the NAIA national semi-finals where the Marauders ended their season second in the nation.

Ahneman’s coaches said he had a leadership of tough mentality—playing at the same level of intensity on every play. He was also the backbone of U-Mary’s “fearsome four”  — Ahneman, Scott Muir, Steve Clooten, and Jason Aman.

Ahneman’s presence is still felt within the Marauder football program, as he continues to hold rank in the record book. His name can be found under career tackles, and career sacks.

Jon and his wife, Kari, live in Bismarck.

ADDITIONAL UPDATE APRIL 2015
Born and raised in Bismarck, N.D., Jon Ahneman graduated from St. Mary's Central High School in 1991 before attending the University of Mary in 1992, joining the football team and becoming one of the Marauders all-time sack leaders. During his run with the Marauders (1992-95), the program posted winning seasons each year, won a conference title and qualified for the NAIA playoff twice. As a freshman in 1992, the Marauders won the first title in school history. In 1993 the team advanced to the NAIA playoffs for the first time. Jon was voted the team's defensive lineman of the year and earned all-NDCAC honors for the first time as a junior when he posted a then-team record 14.5 sacks. Voted a team captain as a senior, Jon again earned all-conference honors as the Marauders posted a record of 11-2 and advanced to the NAIA semifinals. Elected to the Marauders Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003, Jon ranks fourth in team history with 24 career sacks. A 1996 graduate from Mary with a bachelor's degree in nursing, he earned a Masters in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Texas Wesleyan in 2002. He is currently employed at CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck practicing as a Board Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Married 18 years, Jon and his wife Keri, who is a registered nurse at Mid Dakota Clinic, have two daughters; Maddison, a sophomore at St Mary's High School, and Maren, a sixth grader at Cathedral.
