An outstanding basketball player for the University of Mary, Jacqui (Short) Nelson transferred to U-Mary in the fall of 1992 after a very successful basketball career at UND-Lake Region. Jacqui graduated from U-Mary in the spring of 1994 with a degree in nursing.

As a Lady Marauder, Jacqui set scoring and rebounding records that still rank her among the top 25 Lady Marauders. She achieved her records in just two years while many of the other women on the list played for the University of Mary for all four years of college.

Jacqui earned All-Conference and All-American Scholar Honors during both of her seasons with U-Mary. In her senior season (1995), Jacqui led the Lady Marauders to a 21-6 record and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament in Oregon.

Today, Jacqui is a nurse at Carrington Hospital. She and her husband, Morrie, live in Carrington, ND with their three children, Alex, Maara, and Seth.
