A dominant force at the net, All-American Flavia Siqueira led the University of Mary to the volleyball program’s most recent conference crown and took the team to within a set of a trip to the national NAIA tournament.

After beginning her collegiate volleyball career at Western Nebraska Community College, Siqueira was recruited to the Marauders by head volleyball coach Heidi Sunderland in 2002. Siqueira, a native of Ribeiro Preto, Brazil, had an immediate impact on the Marauders fortunes. As a junior, Siqueira finished fourth in the DAC in kills (4.1/set) and eighth in aces as UMary won 18 games and finished fourth in the conference. She earned second-team All-DAC honors for her efforts. After missing the 2003 season due to injury, Siqueira returned to full health for her senior season in 2004 and had a spectacular season. She finished third in the DAC10 in kills (3.60/game) and was first in aces (.58/set) while averaging 3.23 digs/set. The Marauders tied for the DAC title with a 12-1 record, UMary’s first volleyball conference championship in a decade. Ranked in the nation’s top 10 during the season, the Marauders reached the region title game and finished 24-8 overall. Siqueira earned honorable mention All-American honors and first-team All-DAC recognition.

Currently the head volleyball coach at Auburn University at Montgomery, Flavia is the daughter of Ana Maria Guarnieri and Onivaldo Bento Siqueira. She graduated from the University of Mary with a bachelor’s degree in physical and health education in 2005 and a master’s degree in college teaching in 2008.
