Eric Volk is uniquely deserving of recognition as an outstanding athlete. As a center, he is the only player in
U-Mary football history to have been twice named an NAIA First Team All American (1998 and 1999). His coaches cite his consistently strong leadership and ability to bring the same level of intensity to every play as key to his remarkable achievements.
A Granville, ND, native, Eric was the top high school Class B player in the state. After playing for the NDSU Bison for two years, he transferred to U-Mary, majoring in biology. His first season, he helped lead the Marauders to a 5-1 NDCAC conference record, a conference championship, and to the “Sweet 16” of the NAIA playoffs. In 1999, he led the Marauders to an undefeated conference championship record and the NAIA semi-finals of the national NAIA Championship.
In 1998, Eric was named to the NDCAC All-Conference Team and the NAIA All-American First Team and the next fall, to Don Hansen’s All-American First Team and the NAIA All-American First Team again.
Eric and his wife, Jennifer, and their children live in Bismarck, where Eric is employed by the North Dakota Rural Water Co.
